fieldmargin now connects with the John Deere Operations Center

We are excited to announce that you can now import data from your John Deere machinery to your fieldmargin account. When you go to the fieldmargin web app and click on Import fields’ on the features tab you will see an option to connect your MyJohnDeere™ account. This allows us to import field boundaries that you have set up in the John Deere Operations Center to your fieldmargin farm as features.

This allows you to get your fields mapped more quickly and accurately as the boundaries held in the John Deere Operations Centre will have been created using the positioning system in your tractor or navigation equipment.

We have created step-by-step instructions to import your field boundaries from the John Deere Operations Center here.

How do I know if I have field boundaries with John Deere?

If you have a John Deere tractor, combine harvester or other machine with built-in GPS capabilities, or a John Deere guidance system (such as the Starfire receiver, and GreenStar 2 ™ 1800 or GreenStar 3 ™ 2630 Display) on another machine then it is likely that you have some field boundary data set up with John Deere. Depending on how new your machinery is this may have been automatically backed up to the cloud using JDLink ™ Wireless Data Transfer or you may have to do this manually by transferring files from a memory card to your computer and then uploading them to the John Deere Operations Centre. Learn more here.

If you have field boundaries mapped in the John Deere Operations Center then you will have seen a screen something like this:

You can find instructions for creating a MyJohnDeere™ account here and help using John Deere products here.

If you’re still unsure you can get in touch with us or your local John Deere dealer for more information.

What’s coming next?

Importing fields is just the beginning. We are currently working with John Deere’s technology teams to be able to display other data from John Deere products. This includes machinery sensor outputs (for monitoring information such as fuel levels, location and engine health), application records and yield maps.

We are also exploring other data sources to integrate with fieldmargin so that you can have all of your farm’s most important data in one place… To give you a taster we are currently working on ways to digitise paper maps, talking to drone companies about showing drone maps and sensor data and importing data feeds from IoT connected sensors.

Got a suggestion for data that you would like to see in fieldmargin? We would love to hear from you! You can get in touch with us by email or by phoning us on +44 (0) 203 289 4200 .
