Whatever the size of the task getting a plan in the diary is a start. Keeping an active to-do list means that you and your team can keep track of ongoing work. With fieldmargin it can also be used to automatically produce reports.
In this guide we will introduce you to your activity list, describe how it can be organised and used to produce reports.
Where can I find my to-do list?
View your list on mobile by tapping to-do on the bottom of the mobile screen. On web you can view the activity list on the side bar.
You get a different activity list for each year. This means you can add historic data or start planning tasks for next year. Read more here.

What is shown on my activity list?
On the activity list you will see all of your notes, tasks and Field Jobs. These will be ordered by the date they have been created. New work added will be at the top of the list. The blue symbol will let you know what the work type is.

Find our guide for making notes, tasks and jobs here.
To view work details simply tap the Job on the list. Here you can edit details and share comments. You can also attach photographs.
Your activity list is shared with everyone who is a member of your farm team.

Tagging and adding key details to notes, tasks and jobs is key
If you already use fieldmargin you will have probably seen that you can tag fields, people and dates to your field jobs and tasks as you make them.
Tagging is a really important feature when using fieldmargin. By tagging you can meaningful labels to the activity on your To-Do list. By meaningful information I mean you will be able to select where the work need to be done, set due dates and completed date add a job type, and select team members involved.

The benefits of tagging are:
- Sharing the work with the right people
- Prioritising and organising your activity lists
- Giving the work a location
- Organising reports by Job type
- Build up your field history
I hope these ☝️are enough reasons to convince you to get tagging 🙂
How can I organise my activity list
You can change the work that show on the activity list using filters. On mobile you can access these by clicking ‘Filters’ at the top of the activity list and on web they are above your activity.
You can ……
📅 view work that is to-do by due date
Just see tasks that have not been completed by select ‘Incomplete tasks’. This will show only tasks that have not been marked as complete sorted by due date.
👩🌾 👨🌾 set up a personalised to-do list
You can also choose to only view work that you have been tagged in. This is a neat feature for streamlining your activity list when you have a large and busy team. You can also then select to see tasks that have not been completed.
🎯 view work in a particular area
Select ‘Only things visible on the map’ to only show items on the notes list that are visible on the map. Handy for finding work near you or notes that apply to a particular field or area.
🌾 view a to-do list for each field

When you tag a job to a field it will become part of the field to-do list for that field. To see the to-do list for a field simple tap in on the map or select it from the list.
This means that if you know you have a task in a particular field (e.g. fix a fence) you can have a look at this list to check if there is anymore work that needs doing at that field that you may be able to fit in (e.g. check insect traps). This has the potential to save a lot of time walking back and forth.
AND use the search tool! 🔎
Quickly search for specific jobs by clicking the filter and choosing to enter text.

What happens when I complete a task or job …… Instant records!
When you complete a task and job the dates and time is saved. This date can be edited if required. The users that are tagged in the task will receive a notification.

Your input totals will be updated on your field and farm report.
Reporting allows you to view all the inputs on your field and farm in the same place. You can also select to view all jobs, incomplete jobs and complete jobs.
Completed tasks also become part of your field history
See work that has been completed in a chronological history as well as the work that still has to be completed and when it is due.
Can I archive work?
Yes you can! You can archive jobs by tapping the three dots top right of the note/task/job. These will automatically appear at the very end of your activity and field history list.

You don’t have to set up all your jobs and tasks in one go. Try it out with what you are applying at the moment. If things are quiet on the farm you can even make up a job as an example and delete it.
We would love to hear what you think about the product so far. At the moment we are discussing the option of paper printed job sheets – Is this a feature you would use on your farm?
